Dimensions of the Learning Organisation: Impact on Organisational Commitment and Organisational Performance

Abstract
Since the 1990s, learning has become an essential component of organisation theory. Organisational learning focuses on the process of learning at organisational levels, while the learning organisation focuses on the structures and systems supporting the process of learning at organisational levels. This paper highlights seven dimensions that characterise the learning organisation (LO), and outlines how the Dimensions of the Learning Organisation Questionnaire (DLOQ) has been validated in diverse cultural contexts across the world. In conclusion, the author proposes the integration of all three key constructs - LO, organisational commitment and organisational performance - into a single theoretical framework.
