Reflections on the concept of retirement?

Retirement is a concept of the 20th century. The idea is that we work until we are 65 and then have a life dominated by our leisure interests supported by savings and a good pension.
However, in the 21st century life is not like that. First 65 isn't old anymore. Secondly its becoming increasingly obvious that the economy can't (or the government and/or organisations won't) support the aging population with pensions that can support a leisure lifestyle. Thirdly, people of 65 and older are still capable of worthwhile work.
