Abstract
Globalisation and growth of the national economy have increased competition amongst quantity surveyor (QS) firms. The nature of leadership has changed with the post-industrial revolution and the Age of Information, but leadership remains the key determinant of organisational success. Research into the Malaysian perspective remains scarce. This study intends to find theoretical evidence on leadership behaviour in relation to organisational performance in professional quantity surveying practice in Malaysia. Nevertheless, there are weaknesses in competitiveness, innovation and market orientation. It is emphasised that the industry has a significant impact on the economy, although several scholars believe that it is underachieving.
