E = MC² – The Fusion of Modern Management and Metaphysics as a Concept, Competence and Connections for Resolving Pain Points of Health, Happiness and Harmony with Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
Volume 16, Issue 2, May 2021
Practice Professor KC Chan & David Lim Eu Ghee
Synopsis
Metaphysics has been the folklore of 1,000 years of history and has been trusted as part of life’s strategy, but there has been very little attempt to combine this with the art and principles of management to better resolve the pain points of people going through mid-career crises, family disharmony, health issues, and the like. This is an attempt to unify the theory and practice of metaphysics to management, leadership, and entrepreneurship, thanks to the modern wholistic thinking technique (Chan, 2009), it has proven to be pragmatic and has opened up a new whole dimension of paradigm shift to change the way we think, work, behave, and perform by applying the wholistic approach to metaphysics.
Wholistic is a whole-brain total solutions approach. It can be compared to the human body which comprises of five key elements – brain, heart, liver, lungs and kidneys. To stay healthy all five elements must be optimised and utilised to their ultimate advantage. In the same vein, metaphysics will only be at its best when it is in tandem with management, leadership, and entrepreneurship for expert, communications, adaptive, and sustainable power, to resolve major pain points to turn around a crisis – be it at home, work place, and in the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) business environment.
To stay relevant and remain competitive, skills have evolved to deal with the future, including the ability to integrate, implement, innovate, and improve continuously to keep afloat. Because of modern concepts, competencies, and connections driven by positive change in our character. In a similar vein, it can be considered as “Disciplined Agile” – the way of working to deliver minimum business increments to decision points (Ambler et al, 2020).
