With today's globalised economy, international relocation continues to increase (Brookfield Global Relocations Services 2012). The level of complexity, costs and success associated with this particular career transition have been well-documented since the 1970s. Through this primer, the most dominant theoretical model in international adjustment will be reviewed alongside empirical research. By critiquing this model and considering the current context, it is hoped that valuable insights can be offered to practitioners in this field, so that they can better support this particular career transition.
