Abstract
A questionnaire-based subjective assessment was conducted on university library employees of China and Pakistan to analyse the role of design features (furniture, noise, light, temperature and spatial arrangement) influencing workplace dynamics in terms of employee productivity and investigate the gender preference for these design features. The findings show that males prefer noise free workplace while female preference is inclined towards furniture design and comfort. Despite the difference of location of both the universities, the research concludes that furniture comfort and temperature regulation are the significant design features in a workplace environment and strongest predictor of employee productivity.
