Abstract
Gone are the days when an employee is hired for a lifetime job in a particular organisation. The post-industrial revolution in Malaysia, globalisation and the information age changed all of the employment structure and platform. This, in turn, changes the overall perspective of job seekers looking for an environment that seeks the best talent. Employers offer to pay appropriately and to find talent at all levels, to increase performance and productivity while investing in training and developing these talents, only to find that this no longer holds those talents in a hungry organisation that is looking for growth and bigger market share.
Jobseekers then hopped from one job to the next to seek relevant experience in jobs they believe are in their field of interest or otherwise. They hope that they will gain top jobs in the top companies, to be paid appropriately and they will find a longer-term career path and personal growth. . Then they realise there are greener fields on the other side. This creates a circuitous work cycle in a market where the search for top talent or potential candidates in terms of skills and talent is slowly but surely diminishing, more so in some industries than others.
