Summary
This proposed research focuses on the impact of leadership of organisational culture on the work engagement of employees. The research setting is Mercury Myanmar Company Ltd. (MMCL) in Yangon Region, Myanmar. The company imports and markets pharmaceutical products. This research attempts to find the prevailing leadership styles, using the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM), and measuring by the Organisational Description Questionnaire (ODQ). The level of work engagement will be explored with the measurement of employees’ perception. There are three research variables – leadership, organisational culture and work engagement. Leadership styles of senior and middle management and employees will be measured.
The mixed method design, using both quantitative and qualitative measurement, have been adopted. The perception of employees on the organisational culture and work engagement will be measured through a structured questionnaire with Likert-type responses for quantitative measurement. There will be a pilot test to check the reliability of the research questionnaire. Cronbach’s Alpha score will be calculated for each dimension before they are used in the main survey. For the qualitative research there will be participant observation, individual interviews and focus group discussions for all three variables.
