The Potential for using Web 3.0 E-Learning within the NHS; an Evaluation
Volume 17, Issue 2, 2022
Lucinda Christian-Lim
Introduction
The purpose of this primer is to provide NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services [CAMHS] with an evaluation of the potential impact of using Web 3.0 e-Learning on a workforce of trainee clinicians to ensure quality treatment outcomes.
Facilitating the continued training of the NHS workforce during COVID-19 meant rapid adaptations into virtual training, to safeguard positive health outcomes of our nation and ensure a continued stream of staff feeding into the workforce (Sam et al, 2020). Advances in e-learning are vital to address staff shortage (George et al, 2014). Virtual patients are already successfully used in child health settings (Adams et al, 2011) and digital clinical placements are viable options for training into the future (Sam et al, 2020). The reliability and validity of e-learning is essential as clinical reasoning skills are notoriously difficult to teach (Balla & Edwards, 1986).
