Introduction
The covid pandemic has brought great uncertainty, greater even than the massive changes of the digital age. The effects are worldwide, with lockdown, social distancing, remote working, and closures, bringing immediate economic hardship. New laws have been created, with pressure from all sides, little agreement, and constant setbacks relating to widespread illness and government reaction to it. This has meant restrictions on movement that slow down supply chains, creating problems from sourcing raw materials to distributing finished products or providing services. People are living with anxiety, sometimes in deep fear, of the future. This permeates through all levels of employment, from temporary workers to CEOs.
Consumers, worried about income security, have been spending less, which pushes down the economy. This hits every sector of business. Tourism is particularly badly effected when travel is forbidden, meaning transport, hotels and catering lose most of their business. There have been crises in whole economies, finance, debt and foreign exchange, as well as the worldwide medical shock.
