Overview

International in scope and readership, The International Journal of Professional Management is a multidisciplinary journal, publishing articles on organisation theory and behaviour, strategic and human resource management - from empirical studies and theoretical developments to practical applications.

Call for Primers

IJPM plans to create a series of short introductory texts on key management topics that have current relevance for business. These are for busy managers who haven't got time to read extensive papers or text books, for students who want to get a basic grip of the subject before starting a deeper study, and for careerists who vaguely know about a given topic and want to clarify what it is about.

If we get a sufficient number of contributions of suitable quality and topic range, there is a possibility of creating an IJPM book of Management Primers.

The first of these has been published (Volume 9, Issue 2, March 2014). The topic is 'Sustainability.'' This is not a template, but just to give an idea of the type of paper we want - 1000-3000 words that can act as a summary or as a starting point, depending on the wishes of the reader.

Topics for the future could include:

Action learning Homeworking
AppraisalKnowledge management
Arts-based initiativesOnline learning
AssessmentProblem-solving
Brand managementPsychometrics
Change managementRecruitment
Coaching and mentoringRisk management
Corporate social responsibilityShadow side
Creativity and innovationSmall business development
Cross-cultural venturesSocial media
Difficult conversationsSports and business
DiversityStrategy
DiscriminationStress management
E-learning Supply chain management
Emotional intelligenceTeam building
EmployabilityTotal quality management
Employee engagementVoluntary sector
Gender issuesWork-based learning
GroupthinkWork-life balance
Harassment

This is by no means exhaustive. As always, IJPM is looking for work on 'activities that impact personal or organisational development.'
